TO ERR IS HUMAN,
TO FORGIVE IS DIVINE.
THIS CONFESSION SEEKS YOUR COMPASSION…
I was working abroad, having transferred from the NY office to Europe. An important NY colleague was coming to our European office for some special meetings with the European team. Everyone, including me, was excited for his visit. Yet at the same time I had friends visiting me from the States and they planned to head to the beach on the day I would be working and meeting with my visiting colleague. At the last minute, I chose me and my friends that day. I called in sick that morning and went with my friends to the beach. We had the most amazing day.

ATONE REGRETS…
Yes I should have honored my professional obligation but immediately I recognized that work is work and work gets done and our time with our friends and family is precious. I never regretted taking that day. Those professionals have been out of my life and career for a very long time but those friends are still my “family.” Professionally, I did the wrong thing but in this case, I don’t regret it.
