TO ERR IS HUMAN,
TO FORGIVE IS DIVINE.
THIS CONFESSION SEEKS YOUR COMPASSION...

Once, while working as a marketing associate for a firm whose name we do not speak, I lost my cool while working with a colleague, a firm associate partner, on a proposal. The schedule was intense, the workload insane, with everyone juggling multiple priorities. I'm sure it was a small thing, they always are, but voices were raised and a meeting ended in anger and frustration.

ATONE REGRETS...

After that encounter I was so ashamed of my behavior despite the fact that the other party fully participated in the unpleasant exchange. I knew I could not sit with that feeling so I resolved to apologize immediately without overthinking or waiting for the other person to make the first move. My colleague was equally relieved to address the issue so quickly and expressed an equal amount of regret. To revise the phrase, hard feelings happened but were dissipated as soon as possible.
